We are excited to announce that Yeah You Ride will be hosting the first alleycat of 2013, “Spring Brake Yrself”! Proceeds will benefit Plan B Community Bike Shop. Mark your calendar for April 20th and start studying your road map. We’re shaking things up with some different locations, challenges, and rules. While we won’t tell you yet what tricks we have up our sleeve, expect to be pleasantly surprised. Registration is open from 3:30 to 4:15 at Lee Circle and costs $10, including raffle entry. The race starts at 4:20 sharp.
The race is open to all humans powering all types of bikes. As usual we’re offering up a bevy of sweet prizes from gracious sponsors like Bicycle Michael’s, The Bike Shop on Freret, Freight Baggage of San Francisco, Goorin Bros., Rouler, Humidity Skateshop, Knog, Fyxation and many more. The loot will be distributed across the categories of 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall, 1st Lady, 1st Cruiser/Tallbike, and Dead Fuckin Last. Additional prizes are in store for raffle winners and Best Poker Hand. Winners will be announced and booty will be divided at the after-party, hosted by 12 Mile Limit, and sponsored by New Belgium Brewing.
We’ve chosen to donate the profits from the race to Plan B because they do several things we think are crucial to establishing the place of the bicycle in New Orleans streets. They widen accessibility to affordable bikes, increasing the number of bikes on the road. They educate riders on how to maintain their equipment and build work ethic with build-a-bike and earn-a-bike classes. Additionally, they provide an arsenal of free tools and dish out for no charge the know-how on using them. From start to finish, they are about creating and empowering capable, independent bike riders.
We are all stoked about our first race. After organizing and competing in many races, we are putting our experience to work crafting what we think will be an excellent race for all. We look forward to seeing everyone at the race and after-party and thank all of our sponsors and riders for supporting.
Cheers,
YeahYouRide!
